Happiness

Do you choose to be happy everyday? Did you know that happiness is a choice and not a destination to be found?

It is a choice. It is a perspective that you choose to keep or you choose to lose.

A person who chooses to be happy everyday is not someone who walks around 24/7 with an endless smile and no cares in the world because their whole life is perfectly in order. Nope, this is not happiness. This doesn't even exist!

If you choose to be happy you are saying that overall, you are content with your life.

This is more like happiness, real happiness is only contentment.

Being content does not mean that everything is great. It only means that when things are tragic, you are okay with tragic for now. When you are sad, you are okay with being sad because it is needed for you right now. Content is being angry and okay being angry because right now angry is the correct response. This is happiness, contentedness, at work making all of those emotions better, justified, and accepted.

Happiness is like a paintbrush that brightens your day and every other emotion that comes your way that day.

This conversation made me feel sad (AND I am a happy person who is sad right now).

My co-worker made me angry by talking about me behind my back. I am a happy person who is angry about that.

I have so many demands on me right now, I am so overwhelmed and feel too much pressure. This cannot be sustained this way. I am a happy person who feels too overwhelmed.

What can I do to limit my overwhelm, maybe prioritize or make a list, and get back to a place that the overwhelm is more manageable and I can be at peace with the workload?

See here you learn your limits, you know when you have strayed from too far from contentedness. So course correct, always be doing what needs done to bring contentedness to the sadness, anger or whatever.

Learn the lessons from each emotion and work out a plan for dealing with that better in the future, or plan a way to cut it out completely if you need to. Whatever the lessons from those emotions, you control that you are choosing to be a happy person who is having a normal day full of chaos and sometimes pain. This is life at its finest!

Choosing to be a happy person who gets angry, sad, and stressed helps you to create a relief valve on all of the pressures in your life.

The perspective that this is one temporary moment in your overall happy life keeps you free from feeling the full weight of the blow from the sad thing that happened.

The perspective helps you to lessen the anger some because it is not everything to you, it is only one moment and you know there will be other moments that are better and different. So the pressure of this moment is relieved a bit.

Happiness is a daily choice. Happiness paints your whole day, all it's ups and downs, with a white primer coat so things just generally look a little brighter, no matter what comes your way.

Are you ready to choose to be a happy person who gets angry, sad, jealous, loves, and all the rest?

The choice is yours and yours alone. A little perspective change can make a giant difference in your mindset starting today! Each day is a fresh new beginning.
