August is National Happiness Happens Month!

2020 august happiness holiday Aug 10, 2020

August is National Happiness Happens Month!

Sometimes these national holidays are just silly, others are fun but this one is important.

To me, this month is a reminder that happiness happens.

Not everyday.
Not all the time.
We do not live in constant state of happiness.
But, we are not supposed to.

The great thing is that happiness happens.

And when it does it is wonderful.

It is a relief, a reprieve from the daily dramas.

When happiness happens, and it will, notice it! Enjoy it for what it is... a breath of air. A simple reminder that life can be great.

Don't look for happiness, it is not a destination to be found.

Happiness just happens.

Sometimes you can create happiness. Sometimes your attempt fails miserably, because it isn't so easy to create. Sometimes you stress, work hard and nearly kill yourself doing it for weeks working to create happiness and it gets there and lasts only minutes.

This is why it is essential to remember that happiness happens.

When we remember this we are watching for each of those moments that it happens naturally, organically, and we recognize it for the gift that it is.

It could be a cool breeze on a hot day.
It could be a great hair day.
Maybe green lights on your way to work when you're already running late.

This is how happiness happens. It happens all day, nearly everyday.

Do you notice it when it happens to you?

Do you appreciate it each time?

Happiness works like a primer coat of paint. Brightening even your darkest days however it can.

Do you notice it is there? Doing its job.

Do you appreciate the brightness it brings you, even on those darker days?

A wonderful tool to watch how happiness happens in our lives is to keep a gratitude journal. Or at least have a practice of saying 1 thing you are grateful for each day.

This is how happiness shows up in our lives.

This is happiness at it's best.

Enjoy August, even in 2020, and take solace in knowing that happiness happens.
